Norma Paquin

My name is Holly Michels. My maiden name was Paquin. I live in S.E. Michigan Please help me find information about my Great Grandmother!

I feel a deep connection to this woman, despite having never met her. In all the photos of her I've seen she seemed to be smiling and at peace despite the fact that I have heard her life was not easy. I can relate to that. I wish I knew her. But since I can't have that I'd like very much to learn as much as I can about her.

I am researching the PAQUIN family of the Upper Peninsula and Wayne County Michigan.

This page is dedicated to the memory, and in the hope that I can find more information about my paternal Great-Grandmother Norma Rood Paquin.

Norma's parents were Anne and Norman Rood. Her maternal grandparents were Jacob Lovell and Lucy Harwood of Niagra Falls Canada.

Since my grandfather died when I was a child, and Norma had died before my grandmother really had a chance to get to know her, there is very little family information about Norma.

Anne and Norman also had Leo Rood, Helen Rood, Gerald Rood and John Rood.

I am also trying to find information about Norma's Husband Leo Paquin. I believe his parents were Ferdinand and Anne Paquin.  He also may have had a bother named Oscar Paquin. Anne's maiden name was pos. Vandebecouer.

Norma married Leo Paquin around 1919. With him she had 5 sons. They were: Norm Paquin, Ray Paquin, Jack/John Paquin, Leland Paquin and Jerry Paquin.

All of Norma's sons are now dead. Jack was my grandfather.

Norma died in 1945 at the age of 45(?) in either Wayne or Oakland County, Michigan. She had suffered for some time with Cancer. She is buried in Riverside Cemetary, Livonia Michigan.

From her son John, Norma has 2 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and at last count 5 1/2 great-great grandchildren!

For whatever reason, Norma was not given a headstone when she was buried. I hope to someday locate enough of her descendants to gather a fund to erect a lovely marker worthy of this lovely woman.
